CHC loses a hard-fought battle with #1 State Tennis Team

The Dolphins took on the #1 State Ranked Spartans from Steward School on Friday night, and after a hard-fought battle with Steward, the Dolphins fell by a score of 3-6. The Dolphins took the #2 doubles court, with Rachel Moore and Stephanie Strickland teaming up to take down their Steward opponent 8-4. The #3 doubles court came down to the wire, but the Dolphins ultimately fell 9-7 despite Halle Speight and Anne Porter Hudgins’ stellar outing. The Dolphins trailed 1-3 heading into singles play, with the Dolphins earning two wins. Makenna DeTorres won on the #5 singles court, defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-1 to narrow the gap. Halle Speight followed suit, beating her opponent 6-0,6-0 on the #6 singles court. Charlotte Brown took her opponent to a tie-breaker but fell after battling back-and-forth. The Dolphins (4-7) will conclude regular season play on Tuesday with a matchup against Peninsula Catholic before TCIS Tournament play begins on Friday, October 26.
