The Dolphins hosted the Saints from Nansemond Suffolk for Cape Henry’s senior day on Tuesday night, where the Dolphins swept NSA with nine wins. Charlotte Brown and Fiona Clunan kick-started the run on the #1 court with an 8-2 victory over the Saints #1 doubles pair. Following the lead of Brown and Clunan, Rachel Moore and Stephanie Strickland battled to preserve the lead on the #2 doubles courts with Moore and Strickland holding on to win 9-8. Rounding out doubles play Halle Speight and Lauren Matacunas carried the Dolphins to a 3-0 lead with an 8-6 victory on the #3 doubles court. Heading into singles play, the Dolphins were able to produce a dominating performance with six straight wins. Fiona Clunan earned the 6-0,6-0 victory on the #1 court, with Charlotte Brown’s 6-2, 6-0 results on the #2 court giving the Dolphins a guaranteed victory with a 5-0 lead over the Saints. Rounding out the Dolphin results, Rachel Moore (6-1, 6-1), Stephanie Strickland (6-4, 6-4), Makenna DeTorres (6-2, 6-1), and Halle Speight (6-0, 6-0) accounted for the remaining four wins. The Dolphins (5-5) will host Norfolk Christian on Thursday night beginning at 4:00 pm.
