Girls Cross Country- 2^nd

Executing a perfect pack strategy, the girls’ XC team took second on Tuesday’s invitational at NSA.  Avan Johnson led the girls and set a PR of 22:35 to finish 10th in the field.  Seniors Madisen Patrick (22:44) and Liz Bowles (22:52) were right on her heels, while Carlie Meyerholz clipped in just below the 23:00 threshold at 22:59.9.  Izzy Schleifer rounded out the top 5 in 23:07.  The key to the girls’ excellent race was their ability to run together.  Keying off each other in the race, they were able to work to set the pace as they picked off their competitors.  This was especially true during the last mile, where the girls were able to earn enough places to secure a top finish.  The team will next compete Saturday at the Atlantic Coast Invitational at Bells Mill.
