Girls Volleyball- CHC 1, Atlantic Shores 3

The Dolphins hosted the Seahawks from Atlantic Shores on Thursday night, and despite an all-around outstanding performance from Cape Henry, the Seahawks narrowed out three sets to win the match. The Dolphins were slow to start, as Atlantic Shores took an early lead in the first set. The girls found a rhythm late in the first set; however, the Seahawks’ commanding lead was too much to overcome with the Dolphins falling 17-25. The second set brought a great deal of excitement with a rocking crowd backing the Dolphin athletes. Cape Henry battled to take the lead late in the second set, but Atlantic Shores held on to win 23-25. The Dolphins gained a great deal of confidence in the second set, and it was clear in the play of the third set. The Dolphins were firing on all cylinders as the girls found the winning recipe en route to a 26-24 win for Cape Henry. Heading into the fourth set, Cape Henry trailed the match 1-2. The fourth set came down to the wire, but costly serving errors hindered the Dolphins’ chances to bring the fifth set to fruition as the girls fell 20-25. Genevieve Reynolds led the Dolphin attack with eight kills, and throughout the night, Reynolds picked up two blocks. Kyndl Couch dished out 18 assists and added a breath-taking 11 aces across the four-set match. Morgan Jones and Skylar Herrle were busy defensively as Jones (18) and Herrle (14) combined for 32 digs. The Dolphins (1-15) will host Norfolk Christian on Tuesday, October 23 beginning at 6:30 pm.
