Girls Volleyball- CHC 1, Kempsville 3

The Dolphins traveled to Kempsville High School on Monday night, and after a first set win for Cape Henry, the Dolphins struggled to find the winning recipe on the road. The girls were firing on all cylinders in the first set, defeating a talented Kempsville sideline 25-23; however, the woes began for Cape Henry in the second set, as the girls fell by a score of 9-25. Serving errors plagued the Dolphins after the first set, resulting in Cape Henry struggling to regain the momentum in the match. In the third set with the night tied 1-1, the Dolphins’ errors allowed Kempsville to swing all remaining momentum away from the Dolphins, and Cape Henry fell 7-25. With Kempsville leading 2-1 in the match, the Dolphins looked to extend the night by winning the fourth set and force a fifth and final set of the night. Unfortunately, facing an uphill battle, the Dolphins were not able to overcome a talented Kempsville High School after losing the fourth set 19-25. Skylar Herrle, Jordan Banister, and Anna Buba all finished the night with four kills, with Herrle adding seven digs. Caroline Estes contributed 11 digs, while Kyndl Couch dished out a season-high 14 assists. The Dolphins (1-13) will host Nansemond Suffolk Academy tonight beginning at 6:30 pm.
