The Gators from Greenbrier Christian traveled to Cape Henry on Tuesday night for a contest featuring two teams with identical conference records. With a 1-4 record in conference play, the Dolphins looked to climb the conference rankings with postseason play on the horizon. The girls came out firing on all cylinders in a tightly contested first set, with the Dolphins and Gators battling back and forth for a total of 47 points scored. With the final play of the set, the Dolphins earned a 25-22 victory. However, the Dolphins’ first set performance would not carry over into the final three sets of the night. The Dolphins competed valiantly, but Cape Henry would not overcome the depth and talent on the Gators bench. The Dolphins took a step back in the second set, falling by a score of 18-25. The girls were able to garner a piece of the momentum heading into the third set as they closed the gap late but ultimately lost 21-25. In what would be the final set of the night, the Dolphins fell 14-25. Anna Buba led the Dolphin offense with eight kills and 12 digs, while Skylar Herrle produced five kills and 12 digs. Caroline Estes contributed nine assists with Kyndl Couch dished out eight assists and picked up two aces in the process. The Dolphins (1-11) Will travel to Peninsula Catholic on Thursday, October 11.
