Tennis- CHC 3, Trinity Episcopal 6

The Dolphins hosted the Titans from Trinity Episcopal on Tuesday night, and as Cape Henry put forth an incredible effort in the 6-3 loss, the girls lost only one match by more than three sets. Fiona Clunan and Charlotte Brown battled to close the gap in doubles play after the Dolphins lost the previous two doubles matches. Fiona and Charlotte took an early lead before the Titan opponents narrowed the Dolphin lead. As the match came down to the wire, the Dolphins’ doubles pair pulled out an 8-5 victory to bring the tally to 1-2 heading to singles play. Despite the intense competition on all courts, Cape Henry could muster only two wins. The first win came from Stephanie Strickland on the # 4 singles court, as she defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-2. Rounding out the win column for the Dolphins was Makenna DeTorres with a 6-3, 6-3 result. On the #6 singles court, Halle Speight continued her strong play but could not overcome the Trinity counterpart as she lost 8-6. The Dolphins (4-5) will travel to Peninsula Catholic on Thursday, October 11.
