CHC Soccer Fires on All Cylinders

Soccer- CHC 12, Walsingham 0

The Dolphins were firing on all cylinders Monday night as the Dolphins hosted the Trojans from Walsingham Academy. The Dolphins were off to a quick start, scoring five goals in the first 10 minutes of play. The midfield for Cape Henry stole the show early in the first half, preventing the Trojans from entering Cape Henry’s defensive third while consistently threading passes to the Dolphins’ attack. The match was well in the Dolphins hands as the first half came to a close with Cape Henry leading 7-0. Switching the focus in the second half, Cape Henry made a conscious effort to switch the field as often as possible while stringing together crisp, accurate passes. Cape Henry proceeded to tack on five more goals in the second half to bring the final score to 12-0. John Ermini and Matt Vander Werff split time in goal, with the pair of keepers combining to earn the shared shutout. The Dolphins had ten different goal scorers in Trevor Kidd (2), Colin Sharp (2), Landon Clay, Kyle Usonis, Mason Dudley, Wlad Gassant, Grant Shepherd, George Selamaj, Connor Garrison, and Matt McGraw. Carter Atherton, George Selamaj, Wlad Gassant, Chris Clunan, and Will Longacher all picked up one assist, with Grant Shepherd contributing three assists on the night. The Dolphins (7-2) will travel to Peninsula Catholic on Thursday for a 4:30 pm kick-off.
