Field Hockey Pulls Out Win Over Walsingham

Field Hockey- CHC 1, Walsingham 0

Cape Henry pulled out a win on Tuesday night at Walsingham Academy after nearly 55 minutes of scoreless Field Hockey, with Claire Bingham finishing the game’s lone score with minutes left on the clock. A physical battle was on display Tuesday night, with Cape Henry refusing to shy away from the challenge. The Dolphins relied heavily on strong midfield and defensive play for much of the night, preventing the Trojans from taking a single shot on frame. However, the tenacious defense would not translate into offense despite a relentless attack in the Trojans offense third. Cape Henry poured nearly 12 shots on frame throughout the first half, never-the-less, both teams entered halftime scoreless. Much of the same in the second half, with Cape Henry controlling possession and racking up 13 corners while the game’s first score remained elusive for both teams. Finally, with five minutes remaining Claire Bingham scored the deciding goal. Lexia Hann, assisting on the play, found her Bingham on the post who pounded the ball into the back of the cage and propelled the Dolphins to a 1-0 win over the Trojans. Cape Henry (8-1) will host Steward School on Thursday beginning at 4:30 pm.
