Although the #1 singles match finished in a split decision due to darkness, the Dolphins pulled out the second win in as many days at Walsingham Academy on Tuesday night. The Dolphins trailed early in doubles play after falling on the #2 and #3 courts in two tight matches, with Stephanie Strickland and Rachel Moore (7-9) and Halle Speight and Caroline Dixon (7-9) performing admirably. The Dolphins pulled out one win in doubles play after Charlotte Brown and Fiona Clunan dominated play on the #1 court, winning 8-1 and bringing the tally to 1-2 heading into singles play. It was a dominant performance for Cape Henry in singles play as the Dolphins swept the Trojans en route to Cape Henry’s fourth conference victory. Charlotte Brown handed her Trojan’s opponent a 6-1, 6-2 loss to bring the night’s score to 2-2. Rachel Moore found herself in a battle on the #3 court, but the junior’s tenacity aided a 6-3, 6-4 win. Stephanie Strickland pulled out the win after shutting out her opponent in her first set, taking the 6-0, 6-2 victory on the #4 court. Makenna DeTorres kept the momentum rolling for Cape Henry as she defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-4. Rounding out the night, Halle Speight gave the Dolphins the sixth win with her 6-2, 6-0 victory on the #6 court. The Dolphins (4-3) are back in action on Friday for a conference matchup with Steward School beginning at 4:00 pm.
