Girls Volleyball Victory over Walsingham

En route to the season’s first victory, the Dolphins defeated Walsingham Academy in three competitive sets. The Dolphins were on fire to open the first set of the night, rattling off five straight points before the Trojans were on the board. As the Trojans closed the gap, the Dolphins settled into a rhythm, which would define the course of the remaining sets. While occasional hitting errors allowed Walsingham to stick around, the Dolphins refused to bow down and earned a 25-21 win in the first frame. Cape Henry began the second set with another early lead, but as the set progressed, Cape Henry trailed 15-18 before a timely timeout allowed the Dolphins to regroup. With play resuming, Cape Henry looked like a new team with smart attacks and exceptional defense. The girls narrowed the gap and eventually tied the set at 19-19 before taking over and limiting the Trojans to two points to take the second set 25-23. The Dolphins controlled all aspects of the final set of the night, playing an exciting brand of Volleyball with countless blocks and fierce attacks. The Dolphins were off to a quick lead and did not look back, finishing the season’s first win with a 25-18 third set victory. Genevieve Reynolds led the Dolphin attack with nine kills, with Kyndl Couch (11) and Brynn Earl (12) combining for 23 assists. Kyndl also pitched in for four aces while Brynn added three blocks. Anna Buba’s all-around performance led to six digs, four kills, and three aces. The Dolphins (1-9) will host Steward School on Friday beginning at 6:30 pm.
