The Dolphins hosted the Oaks from Norfolk Collegiate on Thursday night with strong play throughout the night, but could not overcome the Oaks. Opening doubles play 0-2, the Dolphins lone win came from an extraordinary effort from the Dolphins #3 court. Caroline Dixon and Halle Speight trailed 2-6 with a 0-3 start to the night looming over the pair. Dixon and Speight battled back, rallying to take the court by a score of 8-6. Despite close matches throughout, the Dolphins struggled to find the winning formula. On the #1 Doubles Court, the pair of Charlotte Brown and Fiona Clunan forced a 9-7 decision but ultimately could not take the victory. On the #3 singles court, Rachel Moore’s matches resulted in a loss, but the 6-3 and 7-5 results were much closer than the results show. The Dolphins (2-3) will travel to Suffolk to take on Nansemond Suffolk on Monday, October 1.
