Coed Cross Country- CHC Boys 2nd, CHC Girls 3rd

The Dolphin Girls Cross Country team finished a remarkable race on Thursday as the Dolphins traveled to Bells Mill Park in Chesapeake on Thursday. The girls finished the race with an impressive 3rd place finish, with Bishop Sullivan edging out the Dolphins 65-66.  The girls were led by senior captains Madisen Patrick and Liz Bowles across the muddy course.  Both girls surpassed their performances from the previous week despite the difficult course conditions.  Carley Meyerholz finished as the team’s third runner, while Izzy Schleifer ran in the fourth position.  Avan Johnson rounded out the varsity five for the Dolphins.

The Dolphin boys proved they will be a force in the TCIS this fall, grabbing second in the Greenbrier Christian Meet’s seven-team field behind only Norfolk Academy, 41-45.  Owen Richards led the day, taking 1st with a winning time nearly two minutes ahead of second place.  The team used their trademark “Pac Man” strategy, grouping the next 4 runners within 20 seconds of each other.  Berk Alptekin finished as the Dolphins’ number two, while Zach Earl, Nick Damuth and Briggs Standing filled out the top five varsity runners. Cape Henry will next race at Norfolk Academy’s home meet September 29.
