Dajour Rucker (‘19) was anxious about the outcome of Hurricane Florence. His biggest fear was losing power; this probably has to do with not being able to charge his phone. But, that is what every teenager can agree on. As we all know, Dajour’s main focus is basketball, and the hurricane could’ve caused him to not be able to play his favorite sport. Luckily, Dajour’s home is located in Zone B so it wasn’t necessary to evacuate. Although, if it was necessary, he and his family would evacuate to Texas. Texas is the perfect getaway for him because his grandfather lives there. Dajour is happy Hurricane Florence never ended up striking our hometown, Virginia Beach.

As Hurricane Florence was approaching us, Carson Shade (‘21) got very nervous. Carson’s house in Bay Colony was in Zone B, near the oceanfront. Unfortunately, his house is made out of literal glass. The glass could just collapse and be destroyed in a blink of an eye. Carson was hoping to evacuate to the state of Arizona because he was excited to see the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately for Carson, he was unable to fulfill that dream, and he had to stay home and finish all the work his teachers had assigned him.
