Girls Volleyball – Looking to Rebound

The Dolphin Varsity Girls Volleyball team opened home competition against the Marlins from Bayside High School on Thursday night, and despite glimpses of spectacular play, the Dolphins lost 0-3. The first set began as a back and forth battled between the Marlins and Dolphins, but a talented Bayside hitter stole the momentum and carried the Marlins over the Dolphins 13-25. The Dolphins’ communication was a priority in the second set, and while Cape Henry improved significantly in all aspects of play, Bayside stole the second set 22-25. In the third and final set of the night, Cape Henry struggled to gain any consistent momentum and dropped the set 12-25. Cape Henry showed glimpses of what is to come throughout the night. Leading the way for Cape Henry, Brynn Earl contributed four kills, one ace, and 14 digs. Genevieve Reynolds provided a steady presence on the floor with one ace, three kills, two blocks, and nine digs. Kyndl Couch, serving as the setter, contributed eight assists and four aces throughout the match. On defense, Morgan Jones and Caroline Estes combined for an impressive 28 digs. The Dolphins (0-2) will look to rebound against Salem High School on Wednesday, September 5 at Cape Henry.
