The Varsity Boys Lacrosse Team have their eyes set on winning a TCIS title and earning a final four bid in the Division I state tournament. The Dolphins know this will not be an easy task but with senior Andrew Jaycox leading the charge, the Dolphins are currently undefeated in conference play.

Contributing to the Varsity Lacrosse Program since his freshman year, Andrew Jaycox has become synonymous with Cape Henry Lacrosse. While it is never easy to begin your senior year with a new coach, Jaycox has hit the ground running in his final season with the Dolphins. Currently, Andrew has 44 points on the season with 25 goals and 19 assists to his name. However, to first-year head coach, Joe Thompson, Andrew brings much more to the program than offensive prowess.

“Andrew has been an impactful lacrosse player for CHC throughout his career, and heading into your senior season with a new coach is never easy,” Head Coach Joe Thompson said. “I am grateful for his willingness to change, and I think this willingness to change has really set the tone for the rest of the team.”

Over the course of last week, Andrew led the Dolphins to four wins, with three goals– scoring the game-winner– in a 7-6 win over Woodberry Forest. He followed this performance with one goal and two assists in the win against Norfolk Christian before heading to Alexandria for back-to-back games against Flint Hill and Potomac High School. Andrew scored one goal in the 8-6 Flint Hill victory before exploding for six goals against Potomac on Saturday.

“His 6-goal effort against Potomac capped off an impressive week for Andrew. He was absolutely instrumental to our success last week and throughout the weekend,” Coach Thompson added. “He has led by example all year and again, has been open to change whenever it is needed!”

“Bottom line, he is an excellent athlete and even more importantly, a good person,” Coach Thompson said emphatically. “We are looking for good people to be a part of this lacrosse program and Andrew is setting the tone.”

The Dolphins will look to turn the page after finishing as TCIS runner-up for the last three seasons, but CHC is well on their way to making a splash this May and Andrew will have a great deal to do with this.
