Freshmen and Seniors’ Day of Service
On Wednesday, April 3rd, freshmen and seniors at Cape Henry took part in a day of service at various locations around Virginia Beach throughout the morning. Freshmen advisories traveled with their peer leaders to places like CHKD, Pin Ministry, Seatack Elementary school, St. Mary’s living facility, and the beach. Seniors who were not a part of the peer leader group worked around the school doing maintenance, picked up trash on the beach, or traveled to the SPCA.
The group of seniors that drove down to the oceanfront to do beach cleanup was chaperoned by Mr. Facemire. This group of about 20 seniors spent two hours that morning picking up trash from 31st street to 15th. At 15th street, the seniors met Mr. Rudolph’s freshman advisory, along with their peer leaders to conclude their service work. The two groups then walked over to Dairy Queen to wait to be picked up by the bus, where many students decided to treat themselves to ice cream or fries.
