Humans of Cape Henry – Libby Kennedy – Class of 2019

Background- Senior, Libby Kennedy, was born in Charlotte, NC. Libby grew up beside her two older brothers, one of whom graduated from Cape Henry in 2012. Libby has been a member of the CHC community for four years, after completing her middle school years at Princess Anne Middle School.

Interests- Libby is very involved in sports at Cape Henry. She represents the Girls Varsity lacrosse team very well and is now entering her final high school season as a veteran leader. In addition to lacrosse, Libby also has picked up a fresh new interest of running indoor track on Cape Henry’s varsity squad. When she is not busy playing sports, she enjoys time to herself with her dogs, walking on the beach. In school, Libby shares that her favorite class Global Environmental Science.

Accomplishments- Over the course of her high school lacrosse career, she has earned recognition in many forms. She is a crucial starter for Cape Henry and has a desire to score goals whenever she can. She has been very successful with scoring goals for CHC and has earned respect from her teammates on and off the field. Specifically, Libby has been named a member of the First Team All-Conference team, and the First Team All-State team, both requiring much dedication and hard work. Her hard work led her to secure a position on the Lynchburg Women’s Lacrosse Team. She committed to further her education and lacrosse career there in the fall of 2019.

Best Experiences- Libby went on a mission trip to Nicaragua a few years ago through her church, and she stayed with an organization called “Waves of Love.” Libby considers this trip to be one of the very best experiences of her life. “The most eye-opening thing about going to Nicaragua was to see how thankful and happy the families were that we helped.

Hopes/Plans for the future- While she is attending the University of Lynchburg, Libby is planning to study pediatric occupational therapy.
