Take Trump to the Dump

Honestly, where do I begin? The results of the election tore me apart. In case you live under a rock, our next president will be the ‘wonderful’ Donald J. Trump. If you couldn’t sense the sarcasm in that statement, I’m telling you now I don’t think he is wonderful in the slightest. And here is one quote that will help support my argument, “My IQ is one of the highest — and you all know it! Please don’t feel so stupid or insecure; it’s not your fault.” Is this really coming from our next president?

My dislike for Donald Trump started back in the very beginning when he started calling Mexicans “rapists” and that they bring crime to our country. Another statement that was recently talked about was him being able to grab women in inappropriate ways and since he’s Donald Trump, he can get away with it. So the two examples show a man who is allowed to talk in a racist manner and sexually assault women because he’s rich and famous, and surprisingly without any consequences.

So let’s start out big and talk about his stereotypical and racist comments, which are allowed and make him more popular. At the beginning of this election, Donald Trump made a bold statement saying, “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending the best. They’re not sending you; they’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing those problems to us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bring crime. They’re rapists… And some, I assume, are good people.” This quote should scare a lot of people, but did it?  No, it helped him. How is it a man can say this and be rewarded for it? If you know why, please tell me. Back to my point though, the scariest part isn’t that he made the comment, but that America has supported this type of comment. What does that say about us? Many believe racism in the United States doesn’t exist; however, I believe this proves those theories dead wrong. On Instagram, there is a recent post that caught my attention: “What a privilege it must be to be able to look past a presidential candidate’s racism because it won’t ever affect you.” That could be why the majority of Trump supporters were whites not the minorities.

Now let’s talk about his take on women. As Mr. Trump would say, “No one respects women more than I do.” Then why would he threaten to get rid of a woman’s right to choose? It is no secret that he is known as someone who has a history with sexual assault charges and saying rude comments based on women’s looks. Trump tweeted, “Arianna Huffington is unattractive both inside and out. I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man – he made a good decision.”  Ladies and gentleman, this is our next president, and I cannot say how wrong this is. A man that has no respect for women gets to decide our rights and our health care system.

Now as much as I don’t like that he is our next president, I do understand why people voted for him. His policies make sense sometimes and people can easily agree with them. Also I get why so many people were against Hillary Clinton because of how her name was dragged through the dirty just like Donald Trump’s, and her ties to other organizations that make you question her judgment. But if you are unhappy with the results, don’t sit in denial and leave politics forever. Fight back! This does not mean go and do something extreme, but go campaign for next year. Don’t just give up!

In conclusion, a wise person told me Tuesday night, “If I can survive a Reagan administration, you can survive Donald Trump.”
