#2 Dolphins defeat top-ranked Saints from St. Christopher’s

The Dolphins traveled to St. Christopher’s on Friday night for a rematch featuring the State’s top two DI opponents. The Dolphins struck first midway through the first half as Parker Mann drilled the back of the net to give Cape Henry a 1-0 lead. The opening goal helped relieve the pressure, as the Dolphins were held scoreless in the previous meeting the week prior. The Dolphins continued to retain possession of the ball, completing thoughtful passes and building the attack out of the back. St. Christopher’s found an opportunity on a counter-attack and tied the night 1-1 with ten minutes remaining in the first half. The Saints found the back of the net for the second time minutes later to take their first lead, 2-1, of the night. Not to be outdone, Trevor Kidd erased the deficit and tied the contest, 2-2, just before the halftime whistle. Returning to the pitch for the second half, the Dolphins dominated possession of the ball despite several Dolphins battling cramps on the warm afternoon. With just under 20 minutes remaining in regulation, Gavin Dooren received a ball from Trevor Kidd and finished just inside the post to give the Dolphins the 3-2 lead on the night. As time ticked off the clock, the Dolphins thwarted the remaining Saints’ attacks and held on to win 3-2 on Friday night. The Dolphins(9-1) are back in action tonight, taking on Steward School in a TCIS matchup beginning at 4:30 pm.
