The Dolphins hosted the first round of the DII State Tournament on Tuesday night, taking on Fighting Bishops from Virginia Episcopal. Libby Kennedy put the Dolphins on the board within the first 30 seconds of the night, kick-starting a 12-goal first half for Cape Henry. The Dolphins scored seven of the twelve first-half goals before the midway point of the first half, with Charlotte Purkey leading the way with two. Virginia Episcopal kept the contest close throughout the night, but two crucial saves from Hannah Horgan made the difference as Cape Henry hung on the win 15-12. Offensively, Madisen Patrick led the way with five goals. Claire Bingham contributed three goals, while Mary Grace Fowler, Charlotte Purkey, and Kenzie Dillon each found the back of the net twice. Libby Kennedy rounded out the offense with one goal as the Dolphins advanced to the semifinals of the DII VISAA Girls Lacrosse Tournament. The Dolphins (11-5) will travel to the Highland School for the Friday afternoon semifinals beginning at 1:00 pm.
