Girls Lacrosse- CHC 12, Sidwell Friends 13

The Dolphins hosted Sidwell Friends School on Friday afternoon, and after commanding an 8-4 halftime lead, the Dolphins fell to Sidwell Friends 11-12. Kenzie Dillon kicked off the scoring efforts just over a minute into the first half to take a 1-0 lead. Mary Grace Fowler followed suit, scoring her first two minutes later to extend the lead to 2-0. Sidwell closed the gap after scoring their first goal of the night, but Mackenzie White found the back of the net for Cape Henry’s third goal with eight minutes remaining in the first half. Gini Kainer, Mary Grace, and Libby Kennedy score back-to-back-to-back, extending the lead to 6-1 in favor of the Dolphins. Sidwell scored once the second goal of the afternoon just before Kenzie Dillon scored CHC’s seventh with three minutes remaining in the first half. With 30 seconds left in the first, Gini Kainer scored her second goal of the afternoon to take an 8-4 lead into halftime. The Dolphins held onto the lead for much of the second half, as Livy Wallace, Claire Bingham, and Libby Kennedy (2) each found the back of the net for Cape Henry’s 12th score of the night. Unfortunately, Sidwell hung around and captured the lead with 3:22 left in play. The Dolphins did not bounce back, and Sidwell hung on to win after trailing for most of the night. Libby Kennedy led the offense with three goals, while Mary Grace Fowler, Kenzie Dillon, and Gini Kainer each scored twice. Claire Bingham and Mackenzie White rounded out the attack with one goal apiece. The Dolphins (2-1) will travel to Norfolk Collegiate on Tuesday for a 4:30 pm faceoff.
