The Dolphins needed four extra minutes to put the Ambassadors away on Tuesday night, with the seniors stepping up with crucial performances on Senior Night at Cape Henry Collegiate. Cape Henry appeared to have the game in the bag throughout the first half, as just about every shot found the bottom of the net. Cape Henry controlled a commanding lead early in the night, leading 27-9 after two quarters of play. The second half was a different story from the opening whistle as Norfolk Christian stormed back into the contest. Cape Henry still held a comfortable lead after the third quarter, with Norfolk Christian trailing by 13, but the Ambassadors erased the 13-point deficit and outscored the Dolphins 17-4 in the fourth quarter. With seconds on the clock, Norfolk Christian tied the game at 40-40 and forced overtime as regulation came to a close. In the four-minute overtime, Cape Henry limited the Ambassadors to one point behind multiple Madisen Patrick steals as the Dolphins held on to win the conference matchup 46-41. Madisen Patrick led all scorers with 17 points, with Nadia Norman netting nine. Seniors Amberly Butler and Emily Ryan each nailed vital shots for the Dolphins, scoring five points apiece. Ryan also led the team on the boards, grabbing 10 rebounds on the night. Paris Beale (6) and Izzy Schleifer (2) rounded out Cape Henry’s offense on Tuesday night. The Dolphins (8-9, 5-4) will travel to Bishop Sullivan on Thursday night before conference tournament play begins on Tuesday, February 18.
