Historic Finish for Boys Cross Country

Boys Cross Country- 2nd

November 1st turned out to be a historic day for the boys’ Cross Country team as they took on their competition from the TCIS schools.  Despite falling short of their ultimate prize, the team put together a terrific meet effort and finished as the championship runner-up.  The second place finish marked the highest finish in the history of the program.  Owen Richards finally collected the elusive individual championship, as he grabbed the gold with a time of 16:20.  Owen had finished 2nd last year and 3rd the year before.  With his victory, Owen was named meet MVP.  Zach Earl, Berk Alptekin, and Nick Damuth each had a monumental performance, grabbing 13th, 14th, and 15th place in the field.  All three of the sophomore boys were named All-TCIS, giving the team an unprecedented four runners earning All-TCIS honors.  Simon Altmeyer, Briggs Standing, and Taisho Miller rounded out the top seven to secure the team’s tremendous finish.  The team will travel to Fork Union Military Academy for next Friday’s VISAA Championship with hopes of finishing in the top 5.
